A Week of Looks

Hey guys!!

Busy as usual but I try to take pictures of my looks before I head out to work or wherever so I can post them up here or instagram (follow me @makeup_by_liza) So I'm going to post some looks I did the last week or so and I'll write what I used. I also did some purchasing and I'll write  reviews tomorrow.

I love wearing teal and light blues in my waterline. It makes me happy :) This one is Urban Decay Flipside. On my lips I am wearing Mac Craving and Revlon Colorburst lip gloss in crystal lilac to mute it

Purple smokey eye using Urban Decay Flash. On my lips Revlon Berry Haute which I love!
Look I did using Urban Decay Naked palette 2 with Mac Shy Girl on my lips

One of my favorite lid colors from Mac is Patina. I used that on the lid, carbon on the outer V and Stila Kajal in Smokey Quartz. Love this! Just wish it stayed on longer. On my lips I have Mac Pure Zen

I used a Loreal HIP pigment for this look. Its called Tenacious. I used it wet. I wish the camera picked it up better its such a fab bronzey gold. On my lips I have Shanghai Spice by Mac

Here I'm wearing Mac Cranberry on the lid and Embark on the crease. On my lips I have Mac Craving.

Blue Smokey eye using Barry M Dazzle Dust in 23 and Mac Angel on the lips
Simple look using Mac Arena on my lid, UD Dark Horse on my outer v and Chanel Rouge Lacquer on my lips

Another Mac lid color I love is Motif. Its iridescent and usually comes out looking purpley pink

And for a breakdown for my face in these shots:
Face Atelier Pro Ultra Foundation in #7
Nars Bronzer in Casino for contour

“Jo's eyes sparkled, for it's always pleasant to be believed in; and a friend's praise is always sweeter than a dozen newspaper puffs.”

I was featured in a Mams Latinas today! Mamas Latinas is an online community where women connect about things like beauty, pregnancy and health. This was a very big moment for me. I always have a nagging feeling that I'm not good enough and I'll never achieve what I want but I am surrounded by such wonderful, positive people who love me and want me to succeed. That means more than anything. Not that you cant do anything on your own, but having people on your side make the journey easier.

I know this year is going to be my year. Not because something will fall in my lap, but because I am going to work hard for what I want. And with my loved one by my side, I seriously feel like I can take on the world.

Also, here is a look I did today using the Urban Decay Dangerous Palette
(photo from Sephora)
Sadly, I didn't love this palette. For something called Dangerous it was anything but. I found the colors to be on the sheer side and even with primer (tf shadow insurance) and a base (nyx milk) the color didn't stay on. I used Gravity on my lid and no matter how much I packed on it looked sheer
I'm usually sold on UD but sadly, this was kind of a miss :(
Gravity, Loaded, Evidence, Deeper, Mushroom, Ace

Sweet Dreams Are Made Of These

Hey everyone! So today I decided to do a look using Too Faced's Sweet Dream palette. It was actually a gift from my sister back in 2011. I havent used this palette in ages! I dont own shadows from Too Faced save this palette. In fact the only product of theres I own is the shadow insurance. I do however hear wonderful things about the brand. First off I really like this palette. The colors are rich and opaque enough and I dont have much fallout. The packaging itself is right up my alley. I love all things fairy and whimsical. For todays look I used Copper Peony, Smolder and Teddy Bear and Cop a Teal.

2012: Parties and Weddings and Makeup Oh My!

So, to be honest not much happened makeup wise in 2012. I'll post a few looks but it was pretty uneventful. I didn't experiment too much with makeup sadly and I didn't buy too much either. No, that's a lie I always buy makeup lol. I guess I was in a bit of a stand still. Don't get me wrong I had a ton of fun with my family. We went on amazing adventures last summer but I didn't take too may makeup photos. I think I was focusing a lot on quality time with my family. There was however a wedding, and an engagement party! My new years resolution on top of so many is to focus on my makeup!

OK, So I started last year with my youngest sister getting engaged yay! So her maid of honor, my other sister and I threw her an engagement dinner at a restaurant in the city
Keeping it simple and polished.

My newly wed sister, my other sister's best friend/maid of honor and me :)

My mom, my son and my niece

Red velvet cake! Yum!

A few months after a close friend of ours, who is more like a brother to us, had a Jack and Jill wedding shower then two months later the wedding.

Dessert table!

                   Yes, a Sephora wishing well

I knew the wedding was going to be edgy from the start. I convinced the bride to do a red lip and so I was also on the hunt for the perfect red lip. I don't usually do red, I'm more of a nude lip girl. I purchased a few and was given a few and finally decided on Mac Ruffian Red and NYX mega shine gloss in Perfect Red. I also purchased a retro dress from Torrid and borrowed a red flower hair piece from a friend to complete the look. This wedding was amazing. The wedding was at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn. It was very Rock N Roll and very much the couple.

                      How amazing is this????

                            Hubby and me <3
Had to sneak a pic with their retro getaway checker cab!

But, moving forward I have high hopes for 2013. Things don't just happen, you have to make it happen and I intend to!

The whirlwind that was 2011

Ah!! It has been forever!!! Over a year in fact! Geez life keeps going and waits for no one! Well I'm going to skim through the last bits of 2011. First and foremost Happy New Year!!! I hope everyone is healthy and well. Last time I was on here I was telling you that my sister was getting married. Well she did and it has been a year since she did (hangs head in shame). I did do her makeup and I am going to post some photos of the wedding and her bachelorette party but first I want to post some pics of my vacation! This was our first family vacation. We took a cruise to the Bahamas and it was amazing. The sea water and my hair became best buds and the sun helped me keep my makeup to a minimum.
Grand Turk with my baby boy
Aboard our cabin. Aqua liner looks great on tanned skin

At Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas my favorite part of the trip!

                                                                                       I love Pina Coladas!

Ok, everyone thought I was barking mad going to the Bahamas weeks before the wedding because of uneven tans, tan lines yadda yadda. I was actually really excited to be tanned for the wedding. A week before the wedding we took my sister out to a cabin up in the Pennsylvania woods for a last sleepover with her friends and a couple days later we took her out to eat, karaoke and a club. I did her makeup for that and she looked fab!
                                                                                          Sexy Little Bride!

Oh how I miss my tanned cleavage!

                                                                                  Haha our outfits were coincedental

Myself with both my gorgeous sisters!

And here finally I will share with you pics of the wedding! t was a gorgeous Fall wedding. Pumpkins everywhere, she and her husband met at a bookstore so there were books on the table. Everything was just gorgeous!

                                                                      Makeup station!

My youngests sister and I
My mom and my grandmother. I did my moms makeup too. How I had time to do my sister, my moms and myself I'll never know!

Those were pretty much the highlights of 2011. It was definitely an eventful year! I leave you a picture of Halloween 2011 in which I was a hippie and Aiden  was Thomas :)
