Dizzy With Priviledge

Awww my sister is blogging!! So excited! After much nagging she finally caved! I couldnt be more excited. At this point in my life all I really want is to be surrounded by my family. They keep me so grounded and so sane! (Heres a link to her blog if youre interested: http://dizzywithprivilege.blogspot.com/) Speaking of family, I got to do my mother's makeup today! Ive actually never done her makeup before so this was kind of exciting. Here's my mom Celeste (I promised I wouldnt put up the before picture)

On her face I used Revlon Colorstay in golden caramel. On her cheeks I used Korres monoi oil bronzing powder in sunglow warm (love!) and R&R blush in lust. On her eyes I used Becca's Avalon palette (love! I'll be reviewing it later.) and Bobbi Brown long-wear gel eyeliner in chocolate shimmer. And on her lips shes wearing Korres cherry lip gloss in light purple (mom has very pigmented lips, thats where I get it from). Overall I am happy with the look. This being the first time I made her over I wanted something soft and simple. Mom used to be a diva back in the day. She'd do such an amazing job with her makeup (with the help of Victoria Principal) but unfortunetly she has lost her skills. The most makeup she wears is tinted moisturizer and a copper mac fluidline. She loved this look and already put in a request for the next one! I leave you now with one of my favorite quotes:
"Families are like fudge, mostly sweet with a few nuts". And I couldnt imagine my life without them :)

Hair Extensions and Sangrias!

So like I mentioned before, my little sister is getting married in November. So the bridal party (just girls) decided to get together and have dinner. We were supposed to go into the city for tapas but alas, they did not find out reservations (ugh!) so we decided to hang in Astoria instead. We ended up in a little tex mex place called Mojave. Besides our waiter being reeeally bad ( I order a Sangrita and I get a sangria and my friend who ordered a diet coke gets a margarita on the rocks..) the place was very nice and the food was pretty good. We ended up having more fun than discussing the wedding but it was a time much needed for all us girls. Life is rough. Sometimes you just need to have fun with the people you love and forget reality for a bit.

And to make the night better, the jessica simpson hair extensions I got from hautelook arrived that day! I was so excited to try this. I got it for an awesome price. They are usually like $75-99 and I got it for $30! Buying hair online is a gamble because you dont know if the color is going to match yours. I purchased chestnut which was pretty close to mine only a little lighter. It was a little longer than I wouldve liked (25 in) but I'm over all happy. I think it looks pretty good. Its a clip on cap. You part your hair in two and clip the piece to the bottom half of the hair. It stayed in pretty well. I worked this day so the makeup isnt fresh so Im not gonna comment on it :)
I really like this extension!

(shirt is from rainbow, earrings are from neiman marcus)

Friendship is the allay of our sorrows, the ease of our passions,
the discharge of our oppressions, the sanctuary to our calamities,
the counselor of our doubts, the clarity of our minds....

Makeup Party!

So a couple of weeks ago a friend of mine and myself had a makeover party. We invited a bunch of our friends and made them over. It was fun! This was this the first time I made anyone over besides my sisters. I wasnt 100% happy with the results but I think the girls liked it. I dont remember what I used on everyone but I mostly used coastal scents 88 palette, UD Naked palette and UD NYC palette. I asked the girls to bring their own foundation because I dont have all shades just yet.
(me!)
First up is my cousin. She requested Mila Kunis from the cosmopolitan cover:

I mostly used the warm side of the 88 coastal scents palette. She pretty much has mila's eye shape and eye color so all I did was create a bronzy crease and used lots of black gel liner finished with a nude lip.

Next is my sister. She wanted a smokey look. I mostly used the UD naked palette on her.

Now we have my soon to be sister in law. she wanted something katy perry inspired so I came up with this

On her I also used the UD naked palette. And her lips I combined colors but nars schiap would work

Last up I have my sister's maid of honor. She didnt have a look in mind so I did a look inspired by this UD photo.

I mostly used the UD Alice palette (flash is amazing!)

Like I said I'm not completely satisfied but this is the first time I did like 8 makeovers back to back. We are having another party soon and I think I'll be way more prepared!

Concealer is a girl's best friend

My boyfriend says to me almost every time I'm applying my makeup, "you're so lucky you can hide your flaws with makeup." He is so right!! A little concealer goes a long way! But not only that, you can use products to attract light, hide marks, slim your face, your nose anything really. I have very dark circles and pigmentation issues. I look monstrous without makeup. I used to flat out refuse to go out without makeup. After literally having my son and enduring that pain and then having my family come in and take pictures of me (umm can u say swollen!) and then have them be put up in facebook, I think I can survive going to the corner store in a bare face. This is really big of me but heres me with NO makeup on (yikes)
Omg I cant believe I'm posting this. And here's a look I did today for comparison:

Concealer is the most important thing in my opinion. Go for one a couple of shades lighter than your foundation for under the eyes. Make sure it isnt thick, the creamier the better. You can use a concealer brush (194) or a 224 but I like to use my finger. ** Always moisturize before!** And I usually put concealer on after I do my eyes and before my foundation to clean up the area. As for concealing spots or pimples I just use a shade closest to my foundation color and I apply it after the foundation then set it all with loose powder. You can use translucent our colored depending on the affect you want. I prefer colored because the translucent one make me look ashy in pictures.
And I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder and real beauty is within but I believe when you feel beautiful you seem happier. You feel confident. You feel like you can take on the world. I'm not talking about vanity. I'm talking about securities and overall happiness. At the end of the day to each their own, this is just my opinion. Heres what I have on:

Face: MUFE HD foundation # 153
         Nars Loose powder in Desert
         Laura Mercier concealer #4
Mac select cover up for under eyes in NC35
         Mac Harmony for contouring
         R&R Lust blush
Physician Formula shimmer strip for highlight

Eyes: UDPP in Eden
NYX jumbo pencil in Black Bean as a base blended up
UD Adore e/s on lid and lower lash line
         UD Twice Baked on crease
Mac texture for blending brow bone
         Stila Kitten for highlight
         E.L.F liquid liner
         UD Perversion for waterline
         Mac Cork for brows

Lips:  NYX Mauve lip liner
         Nars Damage l/s
MUFE labshine Star Collection l/g in S22

This is definetly a look I recommend you use lashes with. When you have dark bright colors on, your lashes seem to disappear so I highly recommend lashes. I have none on (not a fan of falsies at work) but Ardell has some nice cheapy ones. My fav are wispies.

                                                                                     Thanks for stopping by :)

Attack of the Bridezillas!

On Friday I accompanied my sister to the Bridal Expo at the Marriot in Times Square. My reaction to the whole thing? Whoa! There must have been at least 100 brides in that ballroom. My sister is getting married later this year so she wanted to see what this place had up for grabs. In my opinion not enough! The cakes were kinda blah and the resort packages were kinda dull. And no freebies! Ok I got a small tube of h2o body butter so thats something. What I didnt see too much of was makeup! So I was inspired to do a bridal look today using my UD Alice palette. Key for a bridal look? less is more. Accentuate rather than hide. Too much color is going to look like a mess and remember the bride is going to need touch ups the entire time so if u pack on too much color, you'll have to be cleaning that up through out the day. I also recommend using highlighting powder or cream on the forehead and bridge of the nose to capture the light. Youre going for radiant not greasy so dont overdo it.
Face: MUFE HD foundation # 153
         Nars Loose powder in Desert
         Laura Mercier concealer #4
Mac select cover up for under eyes in NC35
         Mac Emote for contouring
         Illamasqua Chased blush
Physician Formula shimmer strip for highlight

Eyes: UDPP in Eden
         UD Muchness on lid
         UD Mushroom in crease
         Mac Carbon outer V
         R&R Skintight for highlight
         Mac Texture to blend
         UD Perversion 24/7 liner
Estee Lauder Sumptious Extreme mascara (the best!)

Lips: nada

My sister really wants me to do her makeup for her wedding but I havent decided if Im going to just yet. I dont feel confident enough and I dont want to ruin it for her. Ugh imagine! Looking like a clown on the most important day of your life?! Oh the pressure. Here's a pic of my VIB (very important bride) and myself at some burger joint in times square
ps- Liza is not a fan of ale. And just cus they toss raspberry in the word doesnt mean thats what youre getting ugh!
Thats Jen a friend of ours. Oh and my sister is obsessed with photobooth pictures. She really wants one at her wedding. Im thinking of getting her one I mean cmon these are pretty cool! I might just get one for the heck of it and put in in my livingroom :p

My Muse

I love lazy Sundays. But with barely getting out of bed there is no putting on makeup. So theres no FOTD today, instead Im gonna resurrect a couple of looks I did for my sister. Let me start with saying she is the easiest person to apply makeup on! She has gorgeous skin, huge almond shaped eyes and she never tears when I apply liner, never! So heres my beautiful baby sister:
This is the oldest. I did this look for her May 2009. I pretty much used mac Idol eyes, Nars Surbaya and Kilimanjaro and Bohemian Gold all from the eyeshadow palette, and Mac Angel on the lips.
I dont remember when this was taken. I was going for a bronzy/golden look. I used the same Nars eyeshadow palette and red cherry lashes. ps- Im not good at applying lashes :/

For this look I used Nars rated r. I love lime green. I think these were red cherry also.

For this look I used UD Underland from the Alice palette. It is one of the most gorgeous shades of purple. In fact I use that palette a lot considering it has so many bold colors
Unfortunetly its sold out. Unless you dont mind paying double to those vultures on ebay, youre better off finding dupes. My favorites would have to be Underland (purple), Alice (blue), Queen (burgandy) and Vorpal (silver). Its not realy an everyday palette but it really is awesome. What makes it more awesome is that Im a huge Alice in Wonderland fan so makeup meets Alice is pretty much surreal for me :)
I swatched it for you guys:
so from left to right: underland, alice, oraculum, queen, chessur, white rabbit, wonderland, curioser, muchness, mushroom, midnight tea party, vorpal, absolem, drink me, eat, mad hatter, jabberwocky. Again, awesome palette but Im pretty sure most of the shades are permanent or at least dupeable. But if youre looking for bold Urban Decay is the way to go.

Welcome beauties!

Oh wow my first blog! I've finally done it. After being harrassed err encouraged to do this Ive finally done it. So I guess the first blog should be about me. First and foremost this a mostly-makeup blog. I am not a makeup artist or I guess one with a certificate anyway. I guess anyone who does makeup can label themself a makeup artist. eh I dont know the politics but I do know I love makeup. Ive loved it since probably the first grade. It was heritage day and I was repping my dominican side with pride. My mom made me up with black eyeliner and red lipstick and I felt fab. When I find the the pic Ill post it.

Anywho, I do want to put up a pic of a look I did today. I work in the medical field hence the scrub top. The purple ribbon is in honor of my father who passed away last year from pancreatic cancer. I dont really want to go there just yet. Too heavy for the first post but here it is:

What I used:
Face- MUFE HD Foundation
          Nars loose powder
          Mac Harmony blush (contour)
          Mac Pink Swoon blush
Physician Formula Shimmer strip to highlight

Eyes- UDPP in Eden
Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Purple Snap
UD e/s in Flash (from the Alice palette which I adore!)
Mac Feline kohl smudged on upper and lower lines
Mac Carbon in the outer v
Coastal Scents 88 palette purple shade in crease
          Mac Texture for blending
Rock & Republic e/s in skintight for highlight
          Mac Cork for brows

Lips- NYX lipliner in Bloom
         Mac Viva Gaga ls
Hello Kitty for Sephora lip gloss in Cherry

so its not one of the best looks Ive done especially since its before work and time is in a issue but its ok but let me know what you think :) nitey nite
